What is a Job Coach?

A Job Coach is someone who provides on the job training and assistance to persons who require additional support upon gaining employment. The length of time a Job Coach is present on site depends on how comfortable the individual feels and how independently they are able to work.

 A Job Coach will:

  • Ensure the individual knows what is expected of them on the job

  • Work alongside the individual to develop additional skills needed for the job

  • Assist with communication between the individual and supervisor

  • Implement specialized tools to assist in completion of each task

  • Help to navigate the public transportation system for going to and from work

  • Be available for additional Job Coaching if the job changes in anyway

  • Maintain site visits to guarantee both the individual and employer are satisfied
